Golf Training Aids - Tools Of The Trade
Golf Training Aids - Tools Of The Trade
A recent online poll asking golfers how many training aids they had used revealed some interesting facts.
32% of the respondents said they had never used a training aid. And fully 68% of them said to they had only ever used one or two training aid. Only 29% of the respondents said they had ever helped their game by using a training aid. And more than half of those who did so had only ever tried one or two different devices.
Can you imagine the New York Giants football team never using a blocking sled or a tackling dummy? And can you imagine the New York Yankees forgetting to bring fungo baseball bats to spring training? Or deciding not to buy any baseball pitching machines for their hitters to hone their skills? It simply wouldn't happen in a professional environment. And it shouldn't happen in your game either.
If you hit a thousand balls a day, are you improving your swing? That all depends doesn't? If you have a serious slice or hook you may simply be reinforcing your bad habits. If you have a club pro beside you when you practice, he can obviously detect your swing flaws and help you to correct them. But can you afford to pay for lessons every time you want to go out it's when a club? But can you afford to have club pro beside you for every swing? More than likely the answer is no. But what you can do is spend money on a training aid like a hinged club. This is a specially designed club that has a hinged mechanism
that breaks down when a flaw occurs in your swing. Every time you swing them improperly you get instant feedback. And the club will break on any part of the swing plane where you have a flaw. If the club breaks when you first start to draw your hands back, then the club is telling you that you are pulling your hands back too quickly. It's that simple. You're forced to slow your tempo when you start your backswing. And that will happen in every part of the swing plane. This particular aid is simply designed to reinforce the swinging lessons you received from your pro in the first place.
And yet, this is only one kind of training aid you will find in the marketplace today. There are others that can easily address every part of your game. For example, there are a number of putting aids available on the marketplace today. Since your putting can take up to 50% of your score, how much could you cut your score if you had a training aid designed to improve and groove your putting stroke? There are nets to help with your chipping or short game. There is even swing analysis software that can you can use with your own computer and a personal video camera to improve your personal swing. There is something for everyone and every single situation.
Don't be like three quarters of the players who play but never develop their skills. Professionals use every tool at their disposal. Even Tiger Woods has his own personal coach. You may not be able to afford your own full-time coach or club pro but you can afford a good training aid.
